I love everything written by Fletcher DeLancey, starting with "Mac vs. PC" and all novels in the "Chronicles of Alsea." DeLancey's writing is well-paced and easy-to-read. Her incredibly detailed world-building sucks you in. Even though Alsea is an alien planet, DeLancey's characters and their struggles are so relatable. I'm so glad she wrote this novel about Vellmar, who played a small, but integral role in the previous Alsea novels. Vellmar is so charming and honorable and definitely deserves a chance to shine. Plus, it's fun that we also get to see more of Tal and Salomen. "Vellmar the Blade" is a great addition to the "Chronicles of Alsea." I can't wait for the next book.
I have enjoyed this series and can't wait for more stories of Alsea and the powerful women who inhabit the planet. Though this story ends sounding like the finality of the series, I hope to be reading more of Lancer Tal, Salomen, Ekatya, Lhyn as well as Lanarial and Vellmar. Strong, confident and fiercely loyal women ready and willing to fight for what they believe and who they love.
I love all the Alsea novels! This is a shorter, lighter addition to Alsea and a delight to read.. I love the way the story is told through a father reading a bedtime story to his children.. it added just that little extra to see our heroes as a child does.. I also like the perspective of how history has treated our characters... I always feel so connected to this universe that I'm a little sad when I have to leave and wait for the next book...
Vellmar is another fantastic character in Delancy's world of Alsea. We get to know our heroine much better and I can only hope to see another book about Lancer Vellmar! Looking forward to book 6.
You don't need to read the others in the series before Vellmar the Blade but if you haven't you definitely should. The little tidbits of the future in this book make me hope that there are many more to come in the series. Ps i loved this one just as much as the others.
Interesting concept of a story telling approach. I really enjoyed the aspect of a father teaching his children and a warrior learning her path in life. Truly an enjoyable and moving story that takes you into another world.
What a fun book. Having read all of Delancey's stories, including the Voyager books, I can tell you that this book is right up there with the rest. I certainly hope that we see more of these characters. Good job.
Cute little story but I want the stories only hinted at in this book. Please?
